How do you approach making an acute pain IV opioid plan for a new adult SCD patient who doesn’t remember what has worked for them in the past?
Do you create a provisional plan (e.g., hydromorphone 0.02 mg/kg IV) at the first clinic visit in case they present to the ED/infusion center or are admitted, or wait until you know the patient and their opioid requirements better?
