Patients with low IgA levels are at high risk for developing severe allergic reactions. In these patients, IVIG with low IgA levels can be considered as an alternative.

Yes - I would check IgA levels as those with IgA deficiency are more likely to develop antibodies to IgA and should be prescribed a low IgA IVIG or SQ IgG formulation to decrease potentially severe allergic reactions.
