Finasteride can prevent the development of the beard, so I never offer it if the beard is not completely grown.

I have offered topical compounded minoxidil + latanoprost + finasteride with fairly good results on younger patients with early onset andro alopecia.
I have them alternate Ketoconazole shampoo and Caffeinated Shampoo (ie Alpecin C1).
