How do you interpret platelet function testing in pregnant patients?

A Swedish study from 2019 described a minor decrease in platelet aggregation after activation with arachidonic acid, trap-6, and ADP in normal pregnancy (PMID: 30010456). Other smaller studies have shown conflicting data. Secretion is thought to not be affected by pregnancy. In our patients, we have noted a marked reduction in secretion with normal aggregation.
