How long do you strictly enforce low tidal volume ventilation in ARDS?
Median duration of mechanical ventilation in the ARMA trial was 8 days. For example, it is often necessary to balance sedation needs with ventilator dyssynchrony later in the course of ARDS. Is there any data to inform that tight control of tidal volume 4-6 cc/kg helps outcomes after more than 8 days of mechanical ventilation?
