I agree, and certainly evaluating for bacteremia that can be associated with these types of infections, which would alter the duration of therapy.

I agree with Dr. @Dr. First Last, it all depends on the timing and adequacy of the surgery. As for Dr. Finland's comment, I didn't know that one, but I love it.

I have always found it incredible how rarely the Founders of ID were wrong on antibiotic therapy. I put this table together a few years ago...
