What does "verbal de-escalation" for agitation look like at your institution/practice?
Verbal de-escalation is the first line recommendation before PRNs for agitation. What kind of guidance do you give hospital staff when discussing plans for managing agitation on the hospital floor? Or on the psychiatry unit? What resources or trainings, if any, are available or recommended for staff?

As a geriatric psychiatrist, many of our patients have comorbid cognitive issues. Usually, nursing tries to de-escalate patients first; other staff might join as needed.
