I recommend that this type of workup for primary immunodeficiency disorders be done as soon as a diagnosis of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is made. In other words, order quantitative immunoglobulins (IgA, IgM, IgG) plus IgG subclasses during your initial workup.
