Do you use an age cutoff for prostate brachytherapy?
Would you use either as monotherapy or boost in appropriate candidates (favorable IPSS, safe for anesthesia)? Assuming IPSS < 15 or 20 and minimal medical comorbidities for receipt of anesthesia.

There is no age cutoff (low or high) to define the appropriateness of brachytherapy.

I would use the same assessment of life expectancy to determine if the patient should be treated at all. Then, decide what treatment they should get. If they are candidates for definitive treatment and can tolerate the sedation/anesthesia, there is no need to contraindicate any of the curative optio...
