I don’t understand the biologic plausibility of shortening the time during which meals are consumed to 8 consecutive hours a day with no snacking for 16 hours a day (but without calorie restriction) in order to lose weight. Agree completely. Due to inevitable confounding present in these studies, I do not believe there is convincing data or biologic plausibility that time restricted eating is harmful or helpful. It remains true that what you eat and how much you eat is likely far more important than when you eat.
