In your experience how does the dose of Remeron (mirtazapine) influence side effects like hunger and weight gain?

Mirtazapine will have a more severe occupancy on histamine receptors at the lower doses. That is why we use 7.5 mg as a hypnotic. As you increase the dose, there is also more norepinephrine being produced.

I couldn't put hard numbers to this, but I think that higher doses of mirtazapine are more likely to result in weight gain and sedation.

I agree with both the clinical experience and theoretical answers above. That is, lower dose remeron is sedating (The first patient I ever prescribed it to, probably at 15 mg hs, said she slept all weekend with one dose.)
