What are the alternatives to gonioscopy gel to protect the cornea when using internal eye shielding?

In patients with cancers involving the lid requiring superficial x-ray treatment, I use an internal eye shield placed under the lid to protect the cornea and lens. To reduce the risk of corneal abrasion, I coat the shield with highly viscous gonioscopy gel. With the disruption of supplies due to coronavirus, I have not been able to obtain this, and I am curious to learn of any other products or techniques people have used to protect the cornea from abrasion from internal eye shielding.
