I’m not impressed by a 2.4-letter improvement over placebo after 27 treatments. It sounds like noise and can be compared to a drop of preservative-free artificial tears. Overall, very positive! Patients notice small but significant improvements in their visual function. Seems to reverse some loss due to GA.

I think we have a responsibility towards our patients to educate them without any conflict of interest so that they can make informed decisions. The literature so far has not convinced me that PBM does much, if at all, in AMD. I do not recommend it at this time.
