What is your algorithm for approaching persistent cough in NSCLC patients?

Cough is a common complaint in many of our patients and determining the etiology can be challenging since the differential is so broad (COPD, cancer, infection, etc). Aside from treating the underlying malignancy, what treatments or therapies do you find most effective?
