Lamictal seems to help a fair bit. It seems to decrease anxiety a little and lessen mood swings, plus it helps depression to a degree. As mentioned above, sometimes there can be co-occurring bipolar II and borderline pathology.

When I have doubt, borderline personality disorder, or bipolar spectrum, I recommend a trial of Lamictal. I've seen several patients whose lives became more stable. As I got to know them over the months, it became clear that BPD was the primary difficulty.
