Which factors lower your threshold to screen for osteoporosis in a patient with diabetes, beyond standard population screening guidelines?

• History of falls or severe hypoglycemic episodes
• Significant microvascular complications such as neuropathy or visual impairment
• HbA1c consistently above 8%
• Use of insulin, sulfonylureas, or thiazolidinediones
