We have been using a wax bolus for 28 years that we custom fit over any teeth with metallic fillings when these teeth will be encompassed within the radiation field.

I don’t routinely use mouth guards. We are currently doing a study to see whether mouth guards made a difference to our patients. For mouth guards to function properly in context of H&N radiation, they have to be made correctly but in reality most are not made correctly.
